I can help with Alpha
Alpha Volunteer Opportunities
Shop for supplies
This is an infrequent task, but quite important. It requires taking regular inventory of items in stock and replenishing when neccessary. Occasionally, shoppers may be asked to help shop for a specific meal, when a cook becomes unavailable.
Set up tables
This requires someone who can arrive quite early to set up tables and chairs, arrange plates and silverware, and help in other ways as needed. The job requires some light lifting and attention to detail.
Cook
Cooking for Alpha can be either a solo act or a group activity. Some cooks are more comfortable planning and preparing an entire meal, while others enjoy working with a small group, each contributing a dish or dessert. A sign up sheet is always posted on the Alpha bulletin board for those who are interested in either cooking or helping prepare the meals.
Wait on tables
Between three and five volunteers are needed each week to bring meals and drinks out to the guests and clear tables when the meals are finished. These volunteers also work in the kitchen after the meal to wash and put away dishes, and ensure the kitchen is back in order.
Pray
An intercessory team is assigned to each Alpha course. They meet on site and pray together for the duration of each night's class.
