Hello, I am Sarah-Joy Reichert, a patriot in Troop VA 0428. You are invited to attend a “Life-Saving Skills Workshop: Hands-Only CPR, Heimlich Maneuver, and Disaster Relief Hygiene Kits.” This is for my Stars & Stripes project.

I will host three workshops, two in-person and with a service opportunity. A third will be virtual to learn Heimlech & hands-only CPR. Workshop #1 is on Sept. 21, 10 a.m.

During each workshop, you will have the opportunity to:

National Day of Service

The timing is perfect because this year AHG's National Day of Service (NDS) is "Seeing and Meeting Needs." The NDS theme calls us to serve "others in a sacrificial way that requires stepping out of your comfort zone and putting others’ interests before yours.” In particular, we are called to see a need, such as an emergency or crisis, and respond.

Why should I learn these techniques??

  • This past spring at an AHG event for patriots my friend was choking and indicated the universal sign of choking. I was able to perform the Heimlich helping her to dislodge what was in her throat.

  • According to the Red Cross, patients receiving standard and Hands-Only CPR were two times more likely to survive 30 days, compared with patients who received no CPR.

ARDF

The Anglican Relief and Development Fund supports local churches serving their communities after a crisis. They commit resources and connect volunteers to training and opportunities to serve. The hygiene kits would be stored by ARDF and used during a natural disaster or other crises.
