"You never know how God is going to work"
by Davd Fawcett
We had 49 come through for prayer at the Food Giveaway on February 8. We had seven members of the prayer team there. And as usual, we were busy with a steady stream of people with prayer needs. We had 21 come through by 10:30 a.m.
Prayer needs varied from jobs to illness and, not surprisingly right now given the demographic that typically comes in for prayer, immigration.
Mostly Hispanics came in for prayer. Grateful to have Rudy and Tammy there to translate when needed.
As busy as it was, God provided us the time to listen and pray for those in need without feeling rushed.
We had a number of new faces come through, but also some familiar ones as well. There was plenty of relationship-building and bonding going on. It's always great when we know those in need of prayer by first names and vice versa. It’s cool to witness God work that way.
I want to also add that we handed out all our shawls and blankets that our Dorcas Ministry makes. We handed out a number of English and Spanish-speaking Bibles. And as an added treat for the kids, we gave out all our little stuffed animals that Emily Fawcett brought in from her mother's house. They were a big hit.
As an aside, Kat Zwingle shared a story about how the food pantry is a good outreach opportunity.
A young lawyer in Kat’s office asked Kat what she was doing this Saturday. Something exciting! Kat said. What’s that? the lawyer asked. I’m serving at a food pantry, Kat told her.
The young woman was so inspired that she said she would help out at the next food pantry. You never know how God is going to work. But work He will.
