Getting to Know the Church: Stephen Bittner

This week, we’re introducing someone you may see each Sunday morning, but may not have gotten the chance to meet! Stephen Bittner is leading worship at both services in this season! Stephen, his wife, Natalie, and two daughters (Kiera and Isabella) started attending All Saints’ Church last year, and they have been a blessing to the All Saints’ community! Read more about Stephen below (and stay tuned for next week when we get to know Natalie in her new role at All Saints’ Church)!

When did you start attending All Saints' Church and when did you start leading worship Sunday mornings?

The Air Force moved Natalie and I to the area July 2022, and after seeing all the nice comments on google about how wonderful the All Saints congregation is, we decided to give it a try. They were very right, and we’ve happily attended ever since! I began singing with the worship team this March, and leading in August.

Why Anglicanism?

My wife comes from a catholic tradition, and I from a Baptist one. Google told us that couples like us should try an Anglican church, and we’ve been Anglicans ever since… around 2015 or so.

What is your background in music?

Lots of singing growing up… primarily from Baptist hymnals and in choir. My mother also had my siblings and I form a quartet and sing in nursing homes Sundays after church. I’ve also played concert piano, some cello, and some trumpet, though now it’s only piano and singing for me.

What song(s) do you love to play and why?

I love music that you feel with your heart and soul. It’s all just pleasant noise until it truly moves you… then it’s a different ballgame altogether!

What is your favorite part about leading worship?

In any song we sing together, I hope I can lead the congregation to feel moved and worshipful and full of praise… all working together to create a “joyful noise” and glorify God.

What are the current needs of the worship team?

Guitars and vocalists would be extremely helpful! All experience levels very welcomed. Drummers would also be wonderful, and any other instrument can be incorporated as well. Let me know you’re interested, the weeks you’re available, and we can potentially get you plugged in!

Who should contact you about serving on the music team?

Please email me and I’ll get back with you as quickly as I can: Stephen.T.Bittner@gmail.com

How can we pray for you?

Pray that God brings willing music volunteers out of the woodwork! Whatever your skill level, we can make a joyful noise together.

Fun facts?

    • I was a collegiate champion boxer;

    • I am 1 of 10 children

    • My wife laughs at my jokes every 1/100 times. I hope to get to 2/100 times next week… wish me luck!
