Update on Building Use

Dear Friends,

We wanted to give you and update on building use as we continue with COVID-19 protocols. First, our Sunday services have been going well and the procedures put in place to comply with governmental and diocesan regulations have left us confident that we are providing a safe environment as we regather. There are three teams of volunteers that ensure all aspects of the plan are followed. We will have our seventh consecutive weekly service this Sunday. Attendance has increased gradually each week.

What about using the building for other events? We have established a series of priorities to address building use. In spite of the confidence expressed above, we are still extremely cautious about a more liberal use of the facilities. Here are the priorities:

Current Allowable Building Use

  • Worship services

  • Other services as considered feasible on a one-time basis

  • Church Administration

  • Intercessory prayer/Prayer Room

Priority 2 (Next to be implemented, protocols still in place)

  • Christian Education

  • Adult Fellowship

  • Other services such as weddings and funerals

  • Children’s Church

  • Youth Activities

Priority 3  (Very limited protocols/no protocols)

  • Normal building use by all ministries

We are currently in tier 1 for the most part (with a few exceptions indoors, such as funerals with limited attendance) and the reality is we are going to have to remain at that level for the foreseeable future in light of COVID and the guidelines which are in place. Outside activities have been approved on a regular basis. Protocols are still in place for these events especially the need for accurate registration, social distancing and the use of masks.

We will continue to monitor any changes in regulations by state authorities and the Diocese. Our goal remains to ensure all activities are safe using established protocols. As the situation improves we will add activities by priority.
