As you have heard, the brush fire that occurred on All Saints’ property began in an area where transient people were gathering. Prince William County police assisted All Saints’ in notifying the people it was time to vacate the property, and resources to help with material needs were provided to them. There has been a high degree of cooperation between the church, police department, and the homeless community during this time. However, a lot of trash and debris remains on the property.
God commands us to love our neighbors as ourselves and exhorts and encourages us to be good stewards of the blessings he pours into our lives, In that spirit, the Vestry is planning a special clean-up day on Saturday, May 4, from 9 a.m. - to 12 noon, to remove what has been left behind.
Older teens and adult volunteers are asked to gather in the parking area behind the church.
Help is needed to:
1) Gather trash and load it into trucks and trailers.
2) Use your trucks and trailers for hauling trash to the landfill.
3) Help drivers empty the trash at the landfill.
4) Grill hot dogs and hamburgers for lunch (grills, charcoal/propane, and a grill master are needed).
Please wear heavy gloves and if you are able, please bring tarps, bungee cords and/or twine to secure loads being taken to the dump.
Many hands make light work, so sign up to let organizers know you intend to help out.
After this Sunday’s services, Vestry members will be in the atrium to answer questions and assist with sign-ups. Please contact Simon Cronje or Scott Reichert if you have any questions.
