Summer Movie Recommendation!

Looking for a movie to see this summer? Don’t miss Sound of Freedom! Take a look at this recommendation from Mother Valarie!

This amazing and incredibly done new film released July 4th is now showing at the AMC Theater in Woodbridge. It is a true story of Timothy Ballard who worked for Homeland Security investigating and arresting those working in sex trafficking. His compassionate heart could not stop with just arresting those involved in this heinous crime, but led him to actually rescue sex trafficked children being molested by pedophiles. The film stars Jim Caviezel (who played Jesus in The Passion of Christ). He is amply supported by the remainder of the cast.

Everyone should see this film, but especially every parent, guardian and grandparent of young children. The United States statically is the largest market for sex trafficking and pedophiles. Learn from this film so you can prepare yourself to protect your children. The film is fine for anyone over 15. There are no frightening or appalling scenes. The film was completed and ready to be released 5 years ago, but “Hollywood” (including Disney) fought to keep it out of theaters. With a great deal of advocacy, hard work and prayer, it was finally released this summer. Don’t Miss it!!

Help Make VBS an Out of This World Experience!

As we welcome children from the community into our church for Vacation Bible School, we need assistance with setting up the decor on Saturday, July 22 at 1 p.m. If you are unable to serve VBS during the week, this is the perfect opportunity to contribute to this important outreach event! Come to the church at 1 p.m. to be the helping hand in a specific room. RSVP to Tara or Tammy if you are able to help for an hour or more. Last year’s decor was a huge hit amongst all the children and their families and is a great way for them to feel welcomed as they come to our church.

Celebration Sunday July 30- One Service & Picnic!

To celebrate Stellar Vacation Bible School, we will have one service at 10 a.m. and a picnic following the service on Sunday, July 30. Please consider helping with the kitchen and setup/takedown assistance.  Men of the church, we could use your help with the setup of tables, chairs, and picnic tents during the service.  If you are willing to help, please email our Junior Warden, Simon Cronje. If you are willing to prep hot dogs, chips, and watermelon in the kitchen also around 10 a.m., please reach out to Tara.

Making a Difference: A Project to Help our Church and Community

Last month, Isaac Fair of All Saints’ Church led a team of teens (and adults) to help build new storage boxes for our Food Pantry! The new boxes are located inside and outside of the church, with the ability to transport donated food items much easier than the old boxes. The design he developed for the outdoor box has a cart located within the box so that all food items donated are already loaded, and ready to move for organizing in the Atrium before a Food Giveaway. Isaac completed these boxes for his Eagle Scout project. His original idea, work, and leadership have created a much more visually appealing and functional benefit to our Food Pantry! Thank you, Isaac and your team, for supporting the Food Giveaways and the community! Take a look at the photos below that include Isaac leading the team working on his project and the completed boxes.

MOPS Update

Our Mothers of Preschoolers group which meets twice a month during the school year, will be meeting on Tuesdays (instead of Mondays), beginning mid-September. MOPS disciples moms to Christ, and is a ministry that brings young families to the church. They will need some loving adults to love on their children in the nursery while they meet for Christian encouragement and discipleship. The nursery time is 9:45-11:45 am on the 2nd & 4th Tuesdays. Volunteers typically serve once a month but can serve more or less as they are available. If you are willing to disciple young families in Christ by serving in the MOPS nursery, please contact Tara.
