Lunches for Neabsco's KinderCamp

We have another opportunity to share God’s love with the students and staff of Neabsco Elementary School. Each day next week we will be providing lunch for about 45 rising kindergarteners as they attend KinderCamp. All of the items needed to make these simple lunches are provided. We need two to three volunteers each day to assemble the lunches and deliver them to Neabsco Elementary School.

If you are available to help one or more days next week, please sign up here and/or contact Tammy for more info.

Thank-You Video from Dana & Damaris Craft in Guatemala

ACNA missionaries Dana and Damaris Craft work with an impoverished community in Guatemala City, Guatemala. There was a devastating fire last spring that displaced six families and All Saints’ sent a substantial emergency offering to assist with rebuilding.

At the 10 a.m. combined service on Sunday, July 28, Father Scott shared a video from the Crafts thanking the people of All Saints’ for their gift to, and prayers for, the landfill community where the Crafts minister.

If you missed it or if you’d like to see the video again, you can find it here.

Backpacks, Blessings, & New Beginnings

NEW August Sunday School for children begins this Sunday, August 4, 9:45 a.m. -10:45 a.m.

The transition back to school can often be a daunting time for children - a mix of anticipation and apprehension as they face a new academic year with all its challenges and changes. In this four-week “Back To School” children's Sunday School, we address these feelings by blending biblical teachings with practical advice, providing children with spiritual tools to navigate this vital phase confidently while reaffirming that God is their constant companion and source of strength. For Rising Kindergarten through Rising 6th-grade students. Nursery open for PreK and under.

Claire Fedele of SHADE to Speak on Sunday, August 4

SHADE is a Christian organization based in Tanzania that serves children, families and communities affected by albinism and other vulnerabilities.

Claire Fedele, Executive Director, will speak at both services on Sunday, August 4 about how SHADE is working to change the often horrific reality albino children face.

Children with albinism are rejected and hunted in Tanzania. Through education, advocacy, and outreach, SHADE works for change.

Prayers for the Persecuted Church: A New Weekly Feature

by Mother Valarie Whitcomb

Every Sunday morning during the Prayers of the People we pray for the Persecuted Church.

Because the ongoing trauma of the Persecuted Church is very real around the world except (at least at this time) the Church in the West, we are adding a weekly opportunity in our Newsletter to inform you of a specific country or situation that needs our prayers. We encourage you to take a few minutes each week to pray for our precious brothers and sisters in Christ who are under such extreme duress. This can include loss of livelihood, forced eviction from their homes, the burning of their churches, torture, imprisonment, murder, abduction of their children, forced marriage to someone from another religion, and so forth.

Our brothers and sisters of the Persecuted Church count on our prayers to sustain them in their dire circumstances.

Should you wish deeper information for prayer and/or feel that God is calling you to give a contribution for their support, contact BarnabasAid, an Anglican nonprofit organization that works with local believers in persecuted countries to provide desperately needed aid:

Thank you for your willingness to pray!

Stephen Ministers Provide Emotional and Spiritual Support

There are times when every one of us experiences difficulties and could benefit from meeting with a Stephen Minister once a week for emotional and spiritual support while we find our way through the valley.

What is a Stephen Minister?

Stephen Ministers are members of our congregation who have received 50 hours of caregiving training to minister to people experiencing a crisis, facing a challenge, or simply going through a tough time. They are under the supervision of the congregation’s Stephen Leaders (Deacons Andy Terry and Julie Tilton.)

A Stephen Minister will meet with you privately and confidentially on a weekly basis to pray, listen, care, encourage, support, and remind you of Christ’s presence in your life. Women meet with a female Stephen Minister, and men meet with a male Stephen Minister.

How do you get connected with a Stephen Minister?

Requests can be initiated by contacting a member of the clergy, including Deacon Julie Tilton (jtilton@allsaintswoodbridge.org ) or Deacon Andy Terry (andy.terry@andyterry.net), or by emailing caringministries@allsaintswoodbridge.org.

Oversight Team Needed for Meals for Hilda Barg

All Saints’ is a member of the Cooperative Council of Ministers (CCoM), set up years ago to serve the homeless in Prince William County. As part of this effort, member churches sign up for three weeks a year to bring food to the Hilda Barg shelter on Rt. 1 near Opitz. All Saints’ next commitment is for the week of September 9, 10, 11, and 12 (four days).

The members of the previous ASC team have all moved away and we need three to four parishioners to oversee food sign-ups and delivery. Bruce DeSoto has provided all the forms and instructions you will need, so you will just have to get in the saddle and ride. The horse has already been tamed and knows where to go!

Please contact Deacon Julie at jtilton@allsaintswoodbridge.org if you can help All Saints’ keep this commitment.
